This is one of my favourite scanners. It is light, easy to use and full featured.
Having no need to make physical contact with the barcode it has a very fast action.
Although the Heron is primarily a hand scanner there are some jobs where it is
more convienient to present the barcode direct to the scanner. This scanner senses when
it has been placed in the desk stand and automatically switches to hands-free mode.
It uses the DataLogic patented Green Spot technology which simply means
the scanner projects a green spot of light onto the barcode after a successful read.
As well as enhancing feedback it is particularly helpful when the
scanner needs to be operated at reduced beep volume in quiet areas like libraries
and hospitals.
Data editing means the data field in the barcode can be edited before being passed to
the computer. Not needed by everybody but can be a real lifesaver when using the scanner
with legacy or other 'difficult' applications.
The Heron Scanner is well finished and a step up from the ultra low cost
budget scanners. Choose this scanner for professional everyday scanning where you
need fast, reliable hand scanning with occasional hands free use.
